Farming Equipment and Technology Fund

The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) 2025, which will open for applications on the 29th of May 2025, is split into 3 grant themes that offer funding to help with the purchase of equipment and/or technology to help improve one of the following areas:

You can apply for a grant if your business is based and registered in England and you're a: farmer, horticulturalist, forestry owner, or contractor carrying out services to farmers, horticulturalists or forestry owners

The Animal Health and Welfare grant is only available if you farm any of the following:

  • beef cattle
  • dairy cattle
  • sheep
  • pigs
  • laying chickens (including rearing and breeding farms)
  • broiler chickens (including rearing and breeding farms)

Applications can be made for each of the 3 FETF 2025 themes: Productivity, Slurry and Animal Health and Welfare (AHW).

Only one application can be submitted for each theme. Each application must be for between £1,000 and £25,000.

All FETF applications must be submitted under a single correct SBI. This business will pay for, own and use the grant funded equipment.

Each grant theme contains an items and specifications lists, any items that you wish to apply for funding for must be included in the relevant list and meet the minimum specifications for that item. All items must be either new or ex display.

Each item listed has an expected average cost, based on item costs from a cross-section of suppliers.

The application window closes at midday on 10th of July 2025.

Improve productivity

This grant theme includes items for the following areas: Arable, Forestry, Horticulture, Livestock, Resource and energy management, Water and irrigation management, together with general items that do not fit specifically into these categories.

Examples of these items include: direct seed drill, tree shears, chiller trailer for deer carcasses, grassland sward lifters, weed wiper, and remote soil moisture sensing.

A grant funding amount of 40% or 50% towards either:

  • the average cost of the item - if an item purchased and claimed for costs the same or more than the expected average cost in this list
  • the actual cost you pay for the item - if an item costs less than the average cost in this list

Applications for productivity items are scored on the following, productivity benefit, environmental benefit, level of adoption by the industry

Each productivity item has a score up to 100.

Manage slurry

This grant theme covers items aimed at slurry collection and storage, slurry testing, and slurry application.

A grant funding amount of 50% is available towards either the average cost of the item, or the actual cost paid for the item, whichever is the lower amount.

Examples of these items include: mobile slurry separator, nurse tank minimum capacity 100m³, and dribble bar for slurry tanker or an umbilical system.

Application for slurry management items are scored in the same way as productivity items with same maximum score of 100.

Animal Health and Welfare

This grant theme is aim at items that contribute towards the Animal Health and Welfare Pathway priorities, for sheep, cattle, pigs and poultry. Other types of livestock and poultry, are not eligible for funding.

A grant funding amount of 50% is available towards either the average cost of the item, or the actual cost paid for the item, whichever is the lower amount.

Examples of these items include: mobile sheep handling system, fixed handling system for pigs, automatic monitoring system (main unit) for poultry housing, and cattle crush (automatic).

The scoring system for Animal Health and Welfare grant application is based on the score for each item, the number of each item applied for and the maximum grant available for each item.

Applications for the Animal Health and Welfare grant, can increase the score by 20% by providing evidence that the FETF 2025 application has been discussed with a vet.
